For those who are looking for the alternative to everyday fixtures, these are timeless alternatives. Unlike the traditional chandeliers which utilize multiple lights, most of these unique fixtures utilize only one light bulb. Not only does this make pendant lighting easier to maintain, but definitely is a stylish and trendy alternative to traditional lighting.
You can either put up a single pendant lighting fixture, or team up three or four pendant lights to give a more dramatic effect. A single fixture hanging alone can create a lonesome yet serene glow to harmonize your personal corner where you spend time with yourself. Kitchen islands, breakfast areas and desks are the other places where you can put colourful pendant lighting fixtures to use.
If there is a general rule of thumb about what constitutes mini pendant lights, it's that they are usually less than 12" in size. Three to four mini pendant lights cast about as much light as two regular pendants that have two bulbs each. The beauty of minis, however, is that you can use more of them over a greater area, creating innovative lighting solutions for a room that really make it stand out. If you want to conserve energy, there is a wide selection of low voltage mini pendant lights to choose from.
Entryways need to have pendant lights seven feet above the floor. A pendant in the dining room needs to be at least 30 inches above the table. Pendants used for a kitchen island need to be 30 to 40 inches above the counter. The height of the tallest person in the home needs to be considered. Make sure all pendants are at least 20 to 25 inches above the top of the tallest person's head.
However, when you hang the pendant light over your study table, do you have the same set of expectation? No way - simply dispersing medium amount of light to the entire study room would be a complete wastage. You would rather prefer the light to focus upon your study table and illuminate the table sufficiently such that you do not have to stress your eyes to read. The same can be said about your dining table - you would want the light to focus on the table rather than disperse all around.
