While installing kitchen pendant lighting, you would want to ensure that you install them at the right height. Placing them too high would lose the great focus that pendant lights are capable of producing, and placing them too low would obstruct your movements as well as potentially dazzle your eyes. You need to strike the right balance between the two. The convention that tends to work the best is to fit the kitchen lighting around three to three-and-a-half feet above the table tops and islands. This gives just about the right brightness. Since the tables would lie directly below the pendants, people would not walk through those places and as a result free movement of your family members will not be obstructed.
If you're placing pendants above a workspace or table, they should ideally be mounted 30" to 36" above the surface. This allows you to get maximum lighting without the pendant fixture getting in the way. If you simply don't have the space to put them up this high, you may want to go with accent, track or recessed lighting options instead.
Pendants, particularly glass pendants, are a great addition to any home. They not only add the perfect amount of light to the space you're trying to light, but they add a touch of elegance and old world charm that few other lights can. They clearly demonstrate that our love of glass is enduring, even in the 21st century.
